Pen Tool and Anchor Points - Illustrator

PEN TOOL

The pen tool can be selected by the nib icon on the toolbar on the left side of the screen, or by pressing P.

By clicking it will create points, and consecutive clicks will create lines between the points you make with the tool.

Anchor Points and Creating Cusps

Using the White Arrow tool, you can click on anchor points and drag them, which will move them as well as stretch the lines immediately attached to them.

Using the Pen Tool, you can click on any portion of a line segment and add a corner point.

By clicking and holding the pen tool a flyout menu bar will appear, where the Anchor Tool is. Clicking a dragging an anchor point using this tool converts it to a curve.

To add indents, or cusps, click a control handle and drag in in a desired direction.
