ZBrush Tips Learned from a Failing Artist

ZBrush Tips Learned From Failure

1.) Skeletons, Clocks, and Windows

If a model has multiple similar parts, model one part and then duplicate it, i.e. spinal vertebrae, ribsgears, window panes.

2.) Asymmetry

Duh, model one half and then copy/paste it inverted, across  an axis, to the other side.

3.) Use ZSpheres Modestly

Do not build the intricacies of your model in Zpheres, i.e small vestigial parts that hang off of or flow around the base of the model.

The smallest you should go with ZSpheres is fingers and toes, otherwise sculpt it on.

4.) Keep an Eye out for wiggly-bits in your references

If your references have wiggly bits [joints, hanging flesh, etc.] make sure to define them, and see if they are an integral part of the model. If they aren't necessary, you can ignore them.
Do further define a limb that would look wrong otherwise?
Do they visually separate two parts of a model?

5.) Invert Your Mask!

Never forget you can mask something you want to work on specifically, invert it, and then only by able to affect that local. Protect the rest of your model when working on specifics.
